TThe situation of international arms cotrol and dsarmament though generally stable at present, faces serious challenges. North Korea's reckless development of nuclear weapons has threatened global security with new factors of instabillity, making a great impact on the international nuclear nonproliferation regime. The tensions between the U.S. and Russia constitute a major obstacle to the current progress of international arms control. It the future, sustained efforts should be made to carry on the process of nuclear disarmament, reinforce the international nonproliferation regime, safeguard nuclear security, and strengthen the leading role of the UN for the sake of lastig peace and stability across the world |
