2020 was the toughest year for Europe as it was faced with the greatest multiplicity of difficulties since the beginning of the new century. The EU's external relations experienced fareaching changes, while Europe and the US showed signs of growing further aprt, EU-Russia relations wen through continuous twists and turns, and the tensions between the EU and Turkey escalated.
