On july 2, 2021 Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree approving the enfoprcement of the new national security strategy of the Russian Federation to replace the previous version issued on december 31, 2015. The national security strategy is the basic document in Russia's strategic planning and the highest level guiding document in Russia's national security area. It defines Russia's national interests, national strategic priorities, objectives, tasks and measures int he field of domestic and foreign policies. The new strategy focuses on the new international and domestic security situation facing Russia, and puts forward the strategic goal of safeguarding national security in the military, political, diplomatics, economic, information and other fields, highlighting Russia's confidence in coping with internal and external pressures and its determination to eliminate threats
