In 2021, under the impact of multiple crises such as the covid 19 pandemic and energy crisis, the EU introduced a number of measures internally to promote unity and self-reliance, while actively maneuvering externally to balance relations among major powers. Transatlantic ties were restored partially, whereas EU-Russia relations were having a hard time for turning around. Meanwhile, the EU officially released its own indo-apcific strategy, seeking to get involved in the Asia Pacific affairs. Judging from the current momentum, the EU has a long and ardous journey to go before it can realize economy recovery at home and strategic autonomy externally
