Current situation in Central Asia. - nro. 2 (april 2014), p. 68-73

Currently, the overall situation in Central Asia is stable and controllable. The authorities of regional countries are consolidating their administration, and trying their best to maintain power and social stability. The economy in regional countries is generally growing, but the structural problems that have hindered economic growth are still unsettled. The influence of the changing world or regional situation over the stability of Central Asia has gradually appeared. The activities of the three forces are becoming more vigorous, and drug-related crime more rampant. Thus the security situation in Central Asia has become more complex and volatile. With an eye to intensifying the disposition for post-withdrawal of U.S.-led NATO troops from Afghanistan, Russia and the US are in their current competition marked by a pattern of Russia on the offensive and the U.S. on the defensive. The relations among regional countries have been improved, but the inherent contradictions are still prominent
