Reflections on building security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region - 4 (2017) : 1-5

At present, security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region is characterized by pluralism and fragmentization. Various countries in the region should bear in mind long-term interests of maintaining regional peace and stability, make top-level design, ans discuss building a wider regional security architecture. Given that, in light of reality in the Asia-Pacific region, the author puts forward the following suggestions: to formulate principles to abide by in building regional security architecture: to build consensus on practicing common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept; to advance gradually in due order from easiness to difficulty and step by step: to give full play to the role of existing regional security architecture in the process of advancing construction of a security architecture covering the whole region: to play a bigger role and shoulder bigger responsabilities by major countries in the region in building the regional security architecture; to ocnsider setting up a standing body under the framework of east asia summit in charge of promoting construction of regional security architecture; and to promote regional common development and construction of security architecture in a coodinated way
